Welcome to IAAPS!

The IAAPS is an organization dedicated to the application of psychoanalytic/psychodynamic principles to everyday social problems and their practical solution. We aim to build peaceful communities through interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches to violence prevention and social services, and through a scholarly and creative examination of community and socio-cultural issues.

We consider the practical application of psychodynamic understanding of human nature to complicated social problems such as violence, bullying in schools and workplaces, community violence, and ethnic or large group conflicts by:

  • Providing a forum for the development of creative applications of psychodynamic thinking in solving problems of social deviance, violence, and international conflicts
  • Publishing a Journal: International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies since 1999
  • Supporting the application of CAPSLE principles in the development of anti-bullying school programs
  • Researching the practical applications of violence reduction in disadvantaged communities and public education
